Emergency Dentistry

A broken tooth, mouth injury, or painful toothache can occur without warning. We understand that you can’t plan a dental emergency, so we want to provide information and support in case something unexpected arises. Having the knowledge you need and the ability to remain calm until you can see Dr. Osborn will keep the situation under control.

After dealing with the immediate problem, Contact Us right away. In the mean time, these tips can help you handle a dental emergency:

  • If you bite your lips or tongue, gently clean the area and apply a cold compress.
  • For a broken or cracked tooth, carefully rinse the area and keep any fragments for the dentist.
  • When a tooth is knocked out, rinse any dirt off the tooth, but leave the root and nerve intact. Try placing the tooth back in the socket, and if that is uncomfortable, place it in a cup of milk and take it with you to the dentist.
  • To deal with a toothache, check for any debris between teeth and use floss to remove particles. You can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for toothache pain, but avoid aspirin because it can increase bleeding if you require dental work.

Although it helps to have advice for dealing with dental emergencies, the best way to prevent a toothache, breakage from decay, or other dental pain is routine dental care. You only get one set of permanent teeth, so it’s important to take good care of your smile. With our Preventive Dentistry services, we can monitor your whole mouth and deal with issues like tooth decay or gum disease before they create the need for emergency dentistry services.

Let us create an amazing smile just for you. Contact Us immediately to schedule an appointment with Dr. Osborn if you have a dental emergency, including a broken tooth or toothache. Our Lone Tree dental practice welcomes patients from the South Denver and surrounding areas.
